The Irish vintage movement lost one of its stalwarts last week with the sudden death of Pat (Paddy) Gill from Kylebeg Newtown, Nenagh, Co Tipperary.

Pat was member of the board of directors of the Irish Vintage Engine and Tractor Association (IVETA) for many years. More recently, he was assistant editor of the association’s member magazine.

Pat will be remembered for his attendance at so many vintage events across the country. He was always enthusiastic about supporting vintage events and the co-ordinating roles that IVETA played in their success.

At the National Ploughing Championships, Pat played a key role in bringing the two vintage associations together to create a single large vintage display which he was very proud to share with all.

His positive approach and good nature endeared him to many as was evidenced by the huge attendance at his removal and funeral the following day.

To his wife Susan and children Padraig, Conor and Charlotte, we extend our sympathy. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h’anam.
