Former IFA general secretary Pat Smith has become co-chair of a new industry association. The Micro-Renewable Energy Federation was registered in November to represent suppliers and installers of farm- and domestic-sale energy equipment. Smith moved into the sector after leaving the IFA through his company Local Power. He and Heat Merchants chief executive Alan Hogan now lead a lobby group of smaller energy businesses.
