The proof was certainly in the pudding at the weekend, as Kelly’s Butchers in Newport, Co Mayo, officially opened its new 6,000 sq ft manufacturing facility. It represents an investment of €1m and leaves the family business poised to sell into new and bigger markets, both at home and abroad. The ribbon was cut by Seán Kelly’s mother-in-law, 95-year-old Mamie Marley, ably assisted by Neven Maguire, who is a big fan of Kelly’s Butchers produce. Seán Kelly also presented a cheque for €3,000 to Cystic Fibrosis West. Kelly’s Butchers products will soon be available online through a new website, which will launch in the coming weeks.
