The farm is located on the Roscommon and Galway border, approximately 2km from Ballintober village.

The house has an interesting background. Daniel O’Connell, known as ‘The Liberator’, stayed there when it was home to his daughter Elizabeth and her husband Nicholas Joseph Ffrench.

One earlier resident was a Thomas Rogers who emigrated to the USA in the pre-famine years and after whom the city of Rogers in Minnesota was named.

The c85ac property is being offered in lots.

Frenchlawn House is accessed via a curving, tree-lined driveway. The two-storey house is 1,870 sq ft in area.

While the house requires renovation, it retains many original period features. However, it is not a listed building, auctioneer Ivan Connaughton says. Outside the house, there are cut-stone outbuildings.

The house requires renovation and redecoration.

The land is in pasture. Approximately 42ac of the total is beside the house and courtyard. The balance of the land is on the opposite side of the public road. Here, there is a block of 35ac and a further 6ac with a derelict house.

The property is being offered in lots. Lot 1 is the house and outbuildings on 2.3ac. Lot 2 is 42ac beside the house while Lot 3 is 35ac across the road. Lot 4 is 6ac with a derelict house, and Lot 5 is the entire.
