Good farmland met strong interest at recent auctions. In Co Wexford Quinn Property sold 24ac with a derelict house at Askinamoe in lots for €494,000 or €20,583/ac. The guide was €10,000/ac. The house on 7ac made €170,000 while the balance of 17ac made €324,000.

39ac farm in Ballintaggart

The firm also sold 39ac at Ballintaggart in a single block for €630,000 or €16,153/ac. Bidding on lots had gone as far as €560,000. The buyer was a tillage farmer.

Meath land exceeds guide

In Co Meath Raymond Potterton sold 52ac with a large slatted beef shed, at Ballynakill, Rathcore, for €460,000. The guide was €400,000. Three bidders were in the showroom with a fourth online. The buyer was a farmer.

Westmeath residential farm

The same auctioneer sold 111ac, with three-bed house and sheds, at Addinstown, Co Westmeath.

Lot 1, the house and yard on 12ac was bid to €260,000. There was no bid for the 72ac in lot 2. Lot 3, 25ac, was bid to €210,000.

Lot 4, which was lots 1 and 2 combined, was bid to €900,000.

The entire opened at €1.12m, went on the market at €1.43m and was knocked down at €1.51m or €13,603/ac.
