The land auction season looks set to wind down next week, with a number of small holdings going under the hammer on Friday 16 December.

In Co Wexford, Quinn Property will sell a 14ac holding located outside Enniscorthy, at Coolycarney.

There is a derelict house on the property, which is going for online auction on the LSL platform from 4pm in lots. The guide price is €10,000/ac to €12,000/ac.

Coolcarney, Co Wexford.

The land is situated 2km from Ballindaggin village and is 1km off the R702 Enniscorthy to Kiltealy Road and 10km west of Enniscorthy.

It is all in grass and there is access off the public road. The holding will be offered in lots as follows:

  • Lot 1: c1ac.
  • Lot 2: c 9.7ac with derelict house and yard.
  • Lot 3: c3.3ac.
  • Lot 4: the entire.
  • Also in Wexford, Sherry Fitzgerald Radford will auction 7.3ac at Kilrane, beside Rosslare Harbour. The land is level and well drained. Part is zoned for residential development.

The property is positioned just 1.7km from Rosslare Europort, which has been turbocharged by Brexit and is rapidly expanding.

Meanwhile, all amenities of Rosslare are within a short walk of the land. The guide price is €250,000.

    Clare and Galway

Colm Farrell Auctioneers will offer a number of land parcels in counties Clare and Galway as six different lots, again all on the LSL platform.

Lot 1 will be 19.5ac at Rockvale, Tubber, Co Clare. This is good productive land and the guide price is €220,000.

The next lot will be 33ac at Kilmacduagh, Gort. About 25ac of this is good land, the balance is callow. The boundaries are good. The guide price is €260,000.

Next, the auctioneers will offer 14ac at Knockoura, Peterswell. This is mixed-quality land, which could be very suited for forestry. The guide price is €45,000.

They will also offer 14ac at Gardenblake, Peterswell, and the guide price is also €45,000.

    Galway land

The focus then switches to Co Galway, with a 2.1ac holding at Aughinish Island, Kinvara. The guide price for this parcel is €20,000. The land has good views on to New Quay Bay and runs down to the commonage shoreline of Aughinish Bay.

Finally, lot 6 will be the tower on 10ac at Bridge Lough, Tawnagh, Kinvara.

This is the remains of a tidal mill, which was built in the 1800s. During high tide, the water would enter the mill to drive the wheels, a unique mechanism that was used for numerous mills in the area.

The mill itself is a free-standing circular plan, slit level with limestone walls with squared limestone capping.

Colm Farrell suggests that the historic property offers potential to any entrepreneurial buyer, as it is close to Traught Beach. It could form the backdrop to a coffee dock, etc. About 9ac of the 10ac for sale is tidal. The guide price is €65,000.
