Industrial action by Teagasc staff beginning this week will result in farmer meetings and events potentially being cancelled by the advisory body nationwide.
The strike action is related to a pay claim which has been lodged by SIPTU.
Teagasc technical staff who are members of SIPTU have been advised to operate on a work-to-rule basis from tomorrow (Wednesday, September 30), with full strike action planned for October 14 and October 21.

The industrial action is likely to see most out-of-hour meetings involving Teagasc staff being cancelled as SIPTU members have been advised to only work “normal contracted hours and start and finish at scheduled times”.
The work to rule will also preclude union members from participating in “strategy working groups, project boards or task forces”.
The communication from SIPTU to its members also puts them on notice that the industrial action at Teagasc will be ramped up to a full strike if no resolution to the dispute is forthcoming.
“Two days of nationwide strike action is scheduled to take place on the 14 and 21 of October. This will involve picketing the workplace and offices,” SIPTU told members.
Teagasc has been contacted for comment regarding the planned strikes.
