New figures released by the Farm Tractor & Machinery Trade Association (FTMTA) show that there were 31 new telehandlers registered in September.

This figure brings to 437 the number of such machines registered in the first nine months of the year, a 35% year-on-year increase.

Interestingly, almost half of this year’s telehandler registrations were in three counties – Meath with 81 units, Cork with 76 units and Wexford with 56 units.

Wheel loaders

Meanwhile, registrations of wheel loaders fell again in September to a single unit, down from the four units that were registered in September last year.

The total number of wheeled loaders registered during 2019 now stands at 84 units. This is a year-on-year drop of 15 machines.

With three units registered, backhoe loader registrations also fell in September, down one unit from the four registered in September 2018.

The total number of backhoes registered in 2019 is now at 61 units, down from 68 for the same period last year.

Interestingly another self-propelled forage harvester was registered in September. This brings the total for the year to an impressive 59 units.
