It was a busy week for riders as Ballinasloe hosted a round of the TRM/Horseware National Grand Prix on Friday. Victory on this occasion stayed in Connacht, as Galway rider Thomas O’Brien took the honours in the Bourns Sport Horses-sponsored class with Connacht Bloodstock’s Amaretto. By Numero Uno and out of Midnight, Amaretto has proved very consistent for O’Brien, picking up their second win of the series at O’Brien’s home place of Galway EC. Second place belonged to Liam O’Meara, who set an early target of clear in 38.81 with Mr Coolcaum. Roisin Fagan put in a great round with Ikan, and her time of 39.32 proved good enough for third, ahead of Noelle Barry who lodged a clear with Norway Venture in 41.21 seconds. Martin Hynes delivered the last of the double-clears with Galway Brigade in 43.92 for fifth place. Gerard Clarke and Zanzibar was fastest of the four faulters in 37.85 for sixth place.
