The Amigos show is a blend of country music from both sides of the Atlantic, some old-time rock’n’roll and some comedy sketches along the way. It is a format that has proven popular on their previous tours and they are not changing it now.

Robert Mizzell

Robert Mizzell from the bayou state of Louisiana has made Ireland his home for more than two decades now. He resides in Westmeath and has become one of the most readily identifiable singers on the Irish country circuit.

He is not a fan of so-called modern country music and makes no bones about it whatsoever. Robert’s heart and soul lies in the true roots of traditional country music and this is reflected time and time again in his choice of material, and also in the music of his band, The Country Kings.

Jimmy Buckley

Jimmy Buckley was born and raised in Doon in Co Limerick, but has resided with his family in Monivea, Co Galway, for some years now. Country music and greyhounds play a central role in his life. He is also known to have a penchant for motorbikes.

The Randy Travis number, Forever and Ever Amen, performed on the Gerry Ryan Show on RTÉ back in the 1990s, was the song that gave Jimmy his first major break.

Songs penned by his former manager Henry McMahon have played a central role in his career and given him some of his most requested numbers. Jimmy is also very much a roots man when it comes to his choice of music, with a strong leaning towards George Jones, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson.

Patrick Feeney

Sligo man Patrick Feeney is the third member of The Three Amigos and hails from Culfadda near Gurteen. Patrick is equally at home singing Irish ballads, and one of his stand-out and most requested numbers is Boolavogue. This song was intimately associated with Tommy Drennan from Limerick and Brendan Bowyer from Waterford in the showband days, with both assured of standing ovations each time they performed this great Wexford ballad.

Current Tour

The current tour will include special tributes to Don Williams and Glen Campbell, two giants of the country scene who died during 2017, leaving a major void in the world of country music but also a wonderful legacy of songs and memories.

All three still pursue their own individual careers, with regular dance dates all over Ireland, but come together for this series of concert dates since the idea was first pioneered by Joe Finnegan of Shannonside/Northern Sound Radio back in 2009.

The public took a shine to the idea from the outset

"The lads enjoyed the first few seasons of the winter/spring tours up to 2012. They took a break for three years before reuniting in January of 2016. That tour was a resounding success, as was the one last January, so here we are again going for three in a row since the reunification of The Three Amigos.

“One of the special highlights of their careers to date was performing with the full RTÉ Concert Orchestra on the Christmas Eve Show on RTE1 from Dublin Castle. It was a great show and featured Ralph McTell and a host of other well known singers.

“They were absolutely thrilled to have the honour to perform with the orchestra, conducted by David Brophy. They did a medley of Christmas songs and there has been a tremendous response to their contribution to the show. It was a wonderful experience for them and one they will cherish for a long time to come,” says Joe.
