The Volkswagen stand will have 15 cars on display from the super little up! to the Touareg and everything in between. Three new Volkswagen cars will make their Irish debut at Ploughing 2017.

For the first time in Ireland, we will be able to see the new Polo which was launched in Germany earlier this week. It is expected here in November and prices will start around the €16,500 mark. There will be one-litre 65bhp and 95bhp petrol engines to start off and a 75bhp one-litre petrol engine and a 1.6-litre 80bhp diesel engine will follow. Then the much anticipated GTI with 200bhp GTi will arrive in March.

Engines above 90ps can have a dual clutch gearbox (DSG) as well as manual. All of the new Polos will come with the option of Trendline or Comfortline specification.

If going for a sportier look, R-line can be added to any Comfortline car.

The T-Roc will also make its Irish debut. This is Volkswagen’s entry into the smaller SUV market and is part of what it is calling the “biggest model offensive” in its history. The little suv will be on sale in Ireland at the end of the year.

Initially, it seems there will be one-litre 115bhp petrol, 1.5-litre 150bhp petrol and two-litre 150bhp diesel engines. Early in 2018, there will be a 1.5-litre DSG 150bhp and a 1.6-litre 115bhp diesel. This car fits in below the current offering of the Tiguan and looks like it will be priced in the mid to high 20k region.

Practical

The Tiguan Allspace will also be in the stand, making its first appearance on Irish soil. This is a more practical, larger version of the Volkswagen Tiguan mid-sized SUV. It is aimed at the gap between the standard machine and the larger Touareg in Volkswagen’s SUV lineup. Engines are expected to be similar to the normal Tiguan – these being a selection of TSI petrol and TDI diesel units. Power ranges from 150hp to 240hp on the BiTurbo two-litre TDI range-topper, with both a seven-speed DSG auto and 4Motion all-wheel drive offered either optionally or as standard-fit across the lineup, depending on the model.

The Volkswagen driving experience will also be demonstrated at Ploughing 2017. This is an area where a skilled driver will be on hand to show the public the capabilities of some of the Volkswagen off-road range, namely a 4Motion Tiguan and the Touareg. Xtreme will be running this area, giving passenger rides to the public over the course of the three days.

Throughout the day, the staff on the stand will be demonstrating the latest in security and service from Volkswagen and showing the public how to get the most from Volkswagen Connect.

App-driven

This is an app-driven way of connecting to your car to see how you are performing as a driver. It can also let you know if your car needs to be serviced or has an issue. All of its functions will be shown over the three days of the Ploughing.

Volkswagen brand ambassadors Bernard Brogan, Simon Delaney and Dave Moore will be on the stand at different times over the three days to meet the public.
