Final offers were due for the 120-acre Manning House on Friday 23 August. However, with three interested buyers at close of business on Friday evening, the price rose to €1m. The closing date was extended to Monday 26 August.

Over the weekend, one interested buyer pulled out, leaving two farmers to fight it out. Bidding continued between the pair until a price of €1.12m was reached at which point a sale was agreed for the property located at Glanworth, Co Cork.

This gives a price of approximately €9,300/ac. The lands have been farmed extensively over the past number of years, allowing scrub and mature trees to extend out into fields. For this reason, investment will be needed to tidy up the land as well as investment in reseeding and fencing.

It is believed that after the clean-up is complete, excluding the mature woodlands and the roadways etc, there would be 110 acres of grassland. However, the land itself is top-quality free-draining land so no drainage work will be required.

CCM Property handled the sale. The original guide was set at €8,000-€9,000/ac.
