James L Murtagh, Mullingar, will bring an interesting property for sale by public auction that is sure to attract both farming and equine interest when it goes under the hammer.

Park Stud is a sizeable c135-acre residential farm situated just outside the town of Kinnegad, Co Westmeath, that is all in one block.

The lands are divided into 12 principal divisions, with road frontage along the Kinnegad to Edenderry road as well as another secondary road.

With a slatted shed to accommodate 150 cattle, the farm is currently being run as a beef enterprise. However, Park Stud was once operated as a successful stud farm and the evidence of this is still there to be seen.

A tidy courtyard is home to 30 loose boxes with a four-bay hay shed situated nearby.

In fact, Park Stud was once used as a training yard by horse trainers Liam Browne and John Oxx, trainer of the great Sea the Stars. The farm also includes an impressive cut-stone residence situated next to the yard. The four-bedroom house is in excellent condition, consisting of a kitchen, sitting room, dining room, living room as well as four bathrooms.

The house and farm will be offered for sale in one lot by public auction on Friday 29 September at 3pm in the Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar.

Selling agent James L Murtagh is guiding €1.5m for the entire.
