Ampertaine Foreman was purchased at the Carlisle bull sales in February 2012 for 38,000gns. Bred by James McKay, Maghera, Co Derry he stood reserve junior and reserve overall champion at the pre-sale show.

Foreman’s four sons which sold for the average sale price or more this autumn sold for a combined figure of over €60,000, to average €15,350 each. This continues on from the highly successful spring performance where he sired 11 sons, under the same criteria, to average over €4,000.

All in all he sold 15 progeny in 2018 to average over €7,000.

His top price son Carrickmore Maximus was overall national limousin champion 2018. He then went on to claim junior champion at the October premier sale in Roscrea and sell for a new Irish Limousin bull record price of €38,000. On the same day he sired two bulls at €9,200. The first at the money was Ernevalley Mitch who also claimed the reserve junior champion behind the high seller. From the same pen and matching the money was Ernevalley Madison who was purchased by Dovea AI.

Similarly at the May premier sale in Roscrea, Foreman managed to sire a total of six calves to average just shy of €4,300.

Foreman was also the sire behind one of the highest private sales of the year when the 10-month-old Claddagh McCabe was sold to the Goldies herd during the summer for a five-figure sum.

This production didn’t happen by accident with Foreman backed by some of the best bloodlines available. His dam Ampertaine Bathsheba is a daughter of Sympa and a full sister to the dam of the 20,000gns Ampertaine Commander. His sire side is just as impressive with Wilodge Cerberus one of the best bulls in the breed. Having stood champion in Carlisle October 2008 he then sold for 50,000gns. He then went on and proved himself breeding interbreed champions at the Royal Highland and Great Yorkshire shows and breeding bulls which sold for up to 65,000gns. His 65,000gns son Aultside Meanmachine was champion at Carlisle February 2018 and a full brother to 55,000gns Aultside Hulk, stock bull at the Ardea/Elite herds in Co. Laois.
