Three mid-sized farms are coming up for auction this month in Westmeath and Longford.

They are at Ballinea, Kilbeggan and Edgeworthstown and they will be sold by Murtagh Bros.

Ballinea, Westmeath

The first for auction is 76ac at Greenpark, Ballinea in Co Westmeath. It is 5km west of Mullingar.

From Mullingar take the R392 Ballymahon Road for around 1km, turn left onto R390 Athlone road, continue for 3km, then turn right onto L5144. The land is 500m further, on the left hand side, with the auctioneer’s sign erected.

The farm is non-residential. It has road frontage. The land is good quality but in need of some reclamation and improvement, according to the auctioneer.

The guide price for this farm is €500,000. The farm will be sold in an online auction on Thursday 11 November at 3pm, on the LSL platform.

Kilbeggan, Westmeath

The next farm to be sold is 37ac at Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath. The farm is 1km out from Kilbeggan on the R446, the Dublin Road, heading for Tyrrellspass.

The land at Kilbeggan is in two separate parcels and will be offered in two lots.

This farm is all under grass and laid out in two separate divisions, which do not adjoin. Both parcels have frontage on the R446. The guide price is €250,000.

The land is of good quality but in need of some reclamation and improvement. Both parcels run down to the River Brosna. There are a range of farm buildings and cattle handling facilities. The farm will be offered in lots as follows:

  • Lot 1 – 28.5ac with the sheds.
  • Lot 2 – 8.5ac.
  • Lot 3 – the entire.
  • This farm will be sold in an online auction on Thursday 18 November at 3pm on LSL.

    Longford

    The Longford farm is 70ac at Ballinree, outside Edgeworthstown.

    The 70ac in Longford is laid out in five main fields.

    The holding is non-residential, is laid out in five main fields and has road frontage. There is a cattle handling facility. According to the auctioneer, the land is suited for any farming enterprise.

    From Edgeworthstown, take the N55 towards Ballymahon, after crossing the Dublin-Sligo railway line continue 1km and take the first right onto the L51681. The farm is on 300m, on the left hand side.

    The farm will be auctioned on Friday 19 November 2021 at 4pm on LSL. The guide price is €450,000.
