Things cannot get much better for the 25 month old heifer Baileys Ice Princess at present. Exhibited by John and Karl Connell from Oldcastle Co. Meath, the outstanding daughter of Bailey’s Darwin was recently awarded the coveted overall supreme championship at the Balmoral show in Belfast.

Yesterday Judge Niall Faughnan from Mohill, Co. Leitrim made no hesitation in tapping Ice Princess forward as the overall Limousin and Interbreed champion once again.

Standing next to Ice Princess as the reserve Interbreed champion was the overall champion from the Hereford section Knockmountagh Cindy. Exhibited by Eamon Mc Kiernan from Monasterboice, Co. Louth, Cindy is a 19 month old daughter of Parkhill Pompeii. This heifer enjoyed an exciting show season last year as she picked up numerous red rosettes throughout the country.

Taking top spot in the Charolais section was Martin Clyne from Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford with his 20 month old heifer Cassina Izzy. Izzy is no stranger to the show ring as she fought of stiff competition last September at the National Charolais Show to claim the senior female calf championship. She is a daughter of the renowned Doonally New.

In the Aberdeen Angus section the Craig’s from Edgeworthstown Co. Longford enjoyed success with their recently purchased Crerogue Eliza J294 and her 3 month old heifer calf. The pair was purchased at the recent reduction sale of the Crerogue herd and it paid dividends yesterday as they claimed the champion Angus accolade. Eliza is a 2009 born daughter of Jerusalum Faraday.

Derek Costello from Drogheda, Co. Louth was awarded the overall Simmental championship for his September 2014 born bull sired by Kilbride Farm Newry.

This young bull showed a lot of potential and caught the eye of many on lookers.

Tipperary man Kevin Mc Cabe secured the Belgian blue championship with his January 2015 born bull calf, one that is sure to have an enjoyable 2015 show season. Elsewhere in the commercial section Marie Mc Cormack from Ballymahon, Co. Longford led the way with her 4 month old Belgian Blue cross heifer calf.
