Specialist finishers and regular sellers are providing a large percentage of cattle processed for this week’s shorter three-day kill.
Base prices for steers and heifers are mainly €4.05/kg and €4.15/kg respectively, with sellers handling smaller numbers securing prices in cases 3c/kg to 5c/kg lower.
Factory appetite is also holding strong to year end, boosted by a continued buoyant trade for manufacturing beef. This is likely to see an even greater focus on cows and young bulls after the turn of the new year.
