Beef prices have risen 5c/kg in the past week as supplies tighten. Last week’s kill fell 1,162 head to 39,367. Throughput is still much higher than normal but factories are keen to maximise their kill, adding more bite to the trade.
Prices have lifted by an average of 5c/kg, with heifers trading from regular sellers on a base of €4.05/kg to €4.10/kg, while steers are trading from €3.95/kg to €4.00/kg.
The vibrant trade is helped by strong sales of manufacturing beef and higher exports to UK and continental European markets.
