Beef quotes got a significant lift this week on the back of very tight supplies and positive price movement in the British market.
Base quotes for bullocks have risen 20c/kg to €7.50/kg and above this week, with heifers now trading to a high of €7.70/kg base price in some factories.
Beef processors have started scoping out Christmas supplies already, with some concerned about the availability of cattle to fill holiday season contracts.
