Numbers entered for this week are well up on last week. The trade is flying for heavy and short-term cattle here in Ballymahon. As we do not have a great deal of dairy-bred stock, the trade is not being affected too much by these. While plainer quality cattle are a slower sell, a strong proportion of those on offer at the moment are forward types. We are between weanling sales at the moment so numbers on offer are very small. The autumn weanlings are mostly sold, while the spring weanlings won’t really get going here until after the ploughing.
