Mart sales in recent days have seen increased demand for store cattle that are suitable for finishing. Prices have said to have improved again slightly in certain areas.

Although the numbers available are growing, they are still said to be slightly lower than the same week last year. Bullocks are said to be selling from €2.05/kg to €2.25/kg for average quality types over 500kg.

Lighter types are seeing higher prices of €2.10/kg to €2.30/kg while U grades are making from €2.40/kg to €2.50/kg. Heavy heifers are selling from €2.05/kg to €2.25/kg with better quality U grade types making from €2.30/kg to €2.40/kg.

Weanling demand has said to have increased also, with prices up by €10 to €15/head in recent days. Weanling bulls from 300kg to 400kg are selling mainly from €2.20/kg to €2.30/kg, with the top third of bulls are making from €2.40kg to €2.60/kg. Lighter types remain strong also and are seeing prices range mainly from €2.40/kg to €2.60/kg for average quality types.

Weanling heifer numbers remain and prices are strong, average quality heifers are selling mainly from €2.20/kg to €2.40/kg with top quality lots selling from €2.50/kg to €2.60/kg in the 300-400kg bracket. Lighter heifers are low in numbers and prices are strong also.
