Ciaran Lenehan: appointed director of sales and marketing at Interchem

After completing a research masters in ruminant nutrition in Teagasc Grange, Ciaran spent two years as a Beef Specialist with the Irish Farmers Journal. In 2018, he moved to Chanelle Pharma, starting as a key account manager in Ireland, before moving into technical, exports and management roles.

Speaking on his latest appointment Ciaran said, “Interchem and Pharvet have huge ranges of really top-class products and I’ve always admired their focus on education and value-added selling. I’m looking forward to working with their talented sales and marketing teams, as well as being part of an ambitious growth plan.”

Kevin McConnell: appointed CEO of Animal Health Ireland

Kevin McConnell said his experience as a vet will be an advantage in the roll.

Leaving his current job as clinical director in Highfield Veterinary Group, Kevin has worked in clinical practice for 33 years. During this period, he worked across all species and has seen Animal Health Ireland’s programmes from the veterinary practitioner perspective. While managing a multi-person practice, Kevin was elected twice onto the Veterinary Council of Ireland and is currently serving as deputy president.

Speaking about his new appointment Kevin told Irish Country Living, “I’m looking forward to progressing Animal Health Ireland’s programmes, particularly the final push in the eradication of Bovine Viral Diarrhoea (BVD), the Beef Health check scheme and the Cellcheck program.”

Dr Shane Conway: appointed EU projects manager in Teagasc

Dr Shane Conway appointed EU projects manager in Teagasc.

As lead researcher of the University of Galway’s Rural Studies Centre, Shane conducted extensive research on the social and emotional issues affecting farmers in later life, at national and global level. He was also Vice Chair of the International Farm Transition Network based in the USA and Co-Director of the International FARMANSFERS Project.

Speaking about his new appointment Shane said, “I look forward to collaborating with representatives from across policy, research and practice working to increase awareness, understanding and the impact of Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS) in each of the 27 EU Member States, as part of my new role.”

Adam Hannon: appointed meat and foodservice market specialist, North America for Bord Bia

Adam Hannon appointed meat and foodservice market specialist, North America.

Having started his career in IT in a key account management role, after the pandemic, Adam decided to pivot and applied to join the Bord Bia Talent Academy on the supply chain and account management programme. As part of that, he worked for Ocado Retail in the UK on their commercial team buying in the fresh lamb category. After finishing the programme, he secured a role with Lidl Ireland as part of their commercial team.

Speaking about his new appointment Adam said, “Ireland produces some of the highest quality meat products with some of the best sustainability standards seen anywhere in the world. I look forward to showcasing Ireland and our world class products. My new role will also encompass the foodservice channel, so I’m very excited to develop a strategy to support client companies seeking to develop their success in the market”.

Amy Ward Whelan: joins Irish Farm Accounts Co-operative Society Limited (IFAC)

Amy Ward Whelan joins Irish Farm Accounts Co-operative Society Limited (IFAC)

On completion of her Masters in Food Business Strategy from Micheal Smurfit Business School, Amy worked in various roles in the food industry and consulting. Amy joins International Federation of Accountants (ifac) from Davy Horizons sustainability consultancy where she was sustainability business manager.

Speaking about her new role Amy said, “I am excited to work with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and larger companies in the Irish food and agribusiness industry to help them shape their strategies and plans for growth and development in a sustainable way.”
