The sunny southeast has been the fastest out of the blocks in this year’s land market with a number of good-quality farms up for sale in Wexford and Carlow since the turn of the year.

Continuing this trend, a 112-acre block of land is up for auction on 4 April. The farm is located in Lacken, near Duncormick village in south Wexford.

The residential farm is situated on the coast, approximately a 30-minute drive from both Wexford town and Rosslare Euro Port and circa 10-minute drive from the scenic fishing village of Kilmore.

The farm

Consisting of 112 acres, the farm also contains a residence, a farmyard and sheds.

The land is described as very good quality by the agent handling the sale, Colum Kehoe of Kehoe and Associates.

It is laid out in one block and divided into 11 large separate fields. This would allow for the land to be subdivided depending on the grazing system deployed here. It is currently under grass and has extensive road frontage. The views of the coast from the farm are second to none.

The residence is an old four-bed traditional farmhouse. The house is in considerable disrepair and requires extensive refurbishment and investment.

The house and farm buildings are situated in the middle of the holding.

There is also an attractive farmyard with stone-constructed outbuildings and a variety of agricultural sheds including a six span hayshed with double lean-to.

Guide price

Strong average prices were noted in southeast Leinster in 2018 and in the early part of 2019. For this reason, the reasonable guide of €840,00 or €7,500/ac would certainly attract interest. The auction is taking place on 4 April in the agent’s auction rooms at the Commercial Quay, Wexford town.
