My earliest childhood memory is going to the beach with my parents and my brother. We grew up by the sea and any day that the sun shone my mother would make sure to bring us to the beach. I don’t remember it ever raining when I was a child. I hope to do the same with my child – spend as much time as possible playing outside in the fresh air.

My first job was working in my local shop which was being converted into a supermarket at the time. I was put into the bakery to help. I couldn’t cook or bake then and I’m not much better now. To be honest, I’m probably the worst cook I know. But I loved working there at weekends and during school holidays. A few people that I went to school with also worked there – battles between the Bakery Girls and the Meat Counter Boys were common.

My first car was: To my shame, I didn’t start driving until I was about 19, but my mother was kind enough to let me drive her Mazda for years; she was glad to be rid of taxi duties. After working for a few years I bought myself a BMW 3 Series. A gold one. Happiest day of my life back then.

The book I can re-read time and time again is The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. I asked for book recommendations on Twitter and a friend recommended this one. I downloaded it and immediately fell in love with it. I’ve read it twice. It’s very rare for me to read a book more than once, but I found The Shadow of the Wind a really nice comfort read.

The song that makes me dance is anything by Beyoncé. I’m also loving Mark Ronson feat Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk. Great party tune.

My best investment has been probably the BMW. That car was a good friend of mine for a number of years.

My worst investment was probably a pair of ridiculously expensive shoes that I couldn’t walk in.

I’m currently watching: My guilty pleasure is watching the soaps. All of them. I’ve also been catching up on dramas on the TG4 website like An Bronntanas and Corp agus Anam. Both are absolutely excellent. I’m also very excited about the next series of Game of Thrones and True Detective.

My signature dish is: Mmmmm …spaghetti hoops on toast with grated cheddar cheese on top. I am officially the worst cook in the world. I don’t enjoy cooking at all and no matter how hard I try and follow a recipe, the end result is not good and not edible.

My favourite place to escape from it all: The beach. Any beach, but preferably the one I grew up on in Indreabhán.

My favourite restaurant in Galway is: For fine dining I like Aniar. It really is beautiful. For everything else, The Galleon in Salthill.

My favourite designer/shop is: I like Topshop and River Island. I like to splash out every once in a while for something nice in Brown Thomas, like a dress for a special occasion.

The possession that means most to me: A really big brass key that my aunt bought me when I turned 21. It’s unusual, but the memories it brings me and its sentimental value is worth its weight in gold. I’m also obsessed with my grandmother’s wedding ring. It was given to me after she passed away a few years ago. It’s a beautiful rose gold band. Simple, but so elegant.

The person I most admire is: My other grandmother. We call her Super Gran because that’s exactly what she is. She’s as fit as a fiddle, can out-drink us all and loves nothing more than food and spending time with her family. And she is the funniest person I’ve ever met who is always by our side no matter what’s going on and will never let us leave the house without giving us a box of teabags.

The best advice I was ever given is: My parents always taught us to treat people as we want to be treated: be nice and mannerly and always to be honest.

The worst advice: “Buy the shoes. They’re gorgeous,” they said.

My aim for 2015 is: I’m expecting my first baby in March please God, so my aim for 2015 is to be a good mamaí.

What Clann Feirm Factor taught me about farming is: Farming is not easy and is a full-time job, but most enjoyable. I love animals and it was wonderful learning so much about working on a farm and all that’s involved with it. And the farmers I met on the show were all so nice. Every one of them.

Clann Feirm Factor, the hit rural reality TV show, is back on TG4 on Sundays at 8.30pm. However, this time it’s a family affair as eight farm clans compete in a variety of challenges to take home a cash prize of €20,000. Follow on Facebook or Twitter @clannff #cff
