Daniel O’Donnell is taking time out after a hectic seven-week run of shows in Branson, Missouri.

Followers travelled from many parts of the USA to attend his shows in the theatre formerly owned by the late Andy Williams.

The Donegal man has just released a new concert special, taped for PBS in America. From the Heartland was recorded at Iowa Public TV and features many songs not previously included on his concert dvds. Special guests include long-time singing partner Mary Duff and the wonderful Daniel O'Donnell band. The package, released by Rosette Records, is available and features both the dvd and cd of the 21 tracks.

A separate new album, A Picture of You, has also been released, featuring a selection of new numbers and old standards.

It has been a demanding few months for Daniel. His wife Majella has been coping with cancer treatment and her father Tom Roche died suddenly in Tenerife. Majella helped to raise in excess of €550,000 through her live head shave on the Late Late Show on RTÉ, an occasion which generated a phenomenal response.

We wish Daniel and Majella all the best for 2014.
