Farmers and families affected by farm accidents are being encouraged to attend a meeting in Mullingar this Friday 10 March.

The Embrace Farm service is hosting a meeting in the Mullingar Park Hotel to offer help and advice for families affected by farm deaths or accidents in counties Longford, Meath, Offaly, Cavan, Westmeath, and south Roscommon.

The meeting will be facilitated by Padraig Higgins. Padraig, from Co Offaly, lost his son James as a result of a farm accident in 2008.

According to the organisers, the meeting is for bereaved families, survivors and witnesses of farm accidents.

“The plan is to bring families together, to forge relationships with one another so that they in turn can provide support at local level.

“The facilitator will let families know what services are available through other charity/support organisations, from the agri industry and farm organisations.”
