No one can really accuse Mike O’Grady and John Feighan of being overly shy – after all, these lads are always in the Limelite.

The south Armagh-based duo are one of the top attractions on the social dancing circuit. They have just released their new album, Real Good Friends, and are enjoying a huge surge in popularity at home and abroad.

“We got together as Limelite 10 years ago and things have been going very well for us,” says John Feighan, who resides near Keady.

“We do a lot of weddings and the social dancing has expanded greatly for us as well. We are now doing shows as far away as The Hazel Tree in Mallow and the Gleneagle in Killarney. We supported Nathan Carter during his recent concert in Killarney. We are also with Enjoy Travel for their trip to Torremolinos in April. Things are really flying for us right now.”

Prior to forming Limelite, John spent around 10 years with Castleblayney-based Music Box, which also featured Paddy King, a brother-in-law of Big Tom.

“We had some great times with Music Box. Big Tom saw us on stage on numerous occasions. The man is revered in these parts, an absolute legend.”

Michael O’Grady hails from near Charleville in Co Cork but has resided in the border country for the past decade or so. Before that he was a member of Declan Nerney’s band for 11 years.

“You get to know most parts of the country fairly well when you work with Declan’s band. He’s still going strong and does a great show every night,” says Mike.

The new 14-track album has a nice mix and provides a perfect showcase for this talented duo. Old favourites include Little Arrows, Footprints in The Snow and Remember Me.

I refer to the fact that John and Michael look so much like brothers.

“The amount of times people comment on that, even asking us if we are twins, is amazing,” says John.
