Noel Flynn from Meath has just released a superb album. My Guiding Light, featuring 12 songs, is expertly produced by Ollie Hennessy. It also featured three songs composed by Walter Cunningham from Antrim. This is a classy collection that deserves a lot of airplay.
Mary Darcy and Willie O’Keefe will play a special show in support of the St Vincent de Paul in the West Cork Hotel on 20 December. The duo have played a number of shows together in recent weeks and are going down a real treat with dancers.
Send Her Red Roses, a song composed by Vic Holyroyd, is the Christmas single from Thomas Maguire and Fhiona Ennis. The Fermanagh-based duo, who took some time off the scene after the birth of their daughter, return with a New Year’s Eve show in the Rhu Glenn Hotel near Waterford city. They are also playing a show in The Ramble Inn on Saturday, 11 January.
Kildare’s Bernie Heaney has released her second single, You Go Around. The song was a big hit in the USA for Johnny Rodriquez in the 1970s. The new album is due out in early 2014.
I’ll Be Home For Christmas is the seasonal offering from Finbar Furey who duets with David O’Connor from Ferns, Co Wexford, former winner of the RTÉ show, You’re A Star. Finbar wrote the song after hearing a young girl tell her tearful family at Dublin airport: “Sure I’ll be home this Christmas.”
17-year-old Dylan Johnston knows how to sing real country music. His new single, Cathy’s Clowns, composed by Eamonn McPhilomey, was produced by Brian Kerrigan and also features Eamon McLoughlin, Declan O’Hare, Jonathan Owens and Danny Sheerin.
