Kilkenny singer-songwriter JP Ryan will release his second album, Take a Walk with Me, in The Set Theatre, Kilkenny, on Friday, 28 February at 8pm.
The album was recorded in Nashville and features top Nashville session players including award-winning musician and producer Thomm Jutz and Grammy award-winning bassist Mark Fain.
The album is a collection of original tracks and a change in direction from the adult contemporary sound of JP’s debut album.
“I’m always drawn to songs that tell a story and this current album was a gradual process, developing over time, out of varying stories.
“My first album, by comparison, was a lot softer in style and was recorded with some wonderful Irish session players.
“The idea of travelling to Nashville came about from a desire to get the sound I wanted.
“It was a thrill to collaborate with some of Nashville’s finest musicians on this rewarding musical journey,” reflects JP.
The man from Callan Road in Kilkenny, with strong Offaly connections around Shinrone, has played with and opened for a range of established international acts, including Rod Stewart.
