Entries were revealed for the second renewal of the €1.8m Dublin Racing Festival last week. The newly-formed festival features eight Grade 1 races and is set to take place on the first weekend in February.

The standout contest looks to be the Irish Champion Hurdle which could see Apple’s Jade pitted against last year’s winner Supasundae and a Willie Mullins trio of Sharjah, Melon and Laurina.

Gordon Elliott’s mare would be bidding for a unique treble of Grade 1s coming over two miles, two and a half miles and three miles this season.

The Irish Gold Cup takes centre stage on Sunday when Mullins’s Kemboy will likely bid to follow up his Savills Chase win over Christmas.

The race could also see the long-awaited reappearance of Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Presenting Percy, though trainer Pat Kelly will likely only declare his stable star on sufficiently soft ground.

It was a good weekend for Gordon Elliott who took the feature races at both Fairyhouse on Saturday and Punchestown on Sunday

Mullins also has a strong hand in the newly upgraded Grade 1 Dublin Chase, with Footpad the current favourite, followed by stablemate Min, who was very impressive in beating Simply Ned in the race last season.

That British challenger, who defeated Footpad at Christmas, is likely to travel back to build on his excellent record at the Dublin track.

It was a good weekend for Gordon Elliott who took the feature races at both Fairyhouse on Saturday and Punchestown on Sunday.

At Fairyhouse, the Meath trainer recorded a one-two in the Dan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase, with Duca De Thaix leading home Cubomania.

At Punchestown, Felix Desjy returned to winning ways with an effective front-running performance in the Grade 2 Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle.
