Macra na Feirme and ABP are searching for tomorrow’s community leaders. This weekend marks your final chance to enter the 2018 Macra na Feirme/ABP leaders of the year awards.

The leaders of the year programme aims to recognise Macra na Feirme members who have demonstrated excellent leadership qualities within Macra na Feirme and the wider community.

The competition raises the level and standard of leadership in Macra and provides an incentive for the development of club programmes.

Macra na Feirme president James Healy said: “The leaders of the year awards are a very significant part of the Macra na Feirme calendar and I would like to thank ABP for its continued support of these awards. Macra na Feirme prides itself on its development of tomorrow’s leaders and these awards play a major part in giving our members who excel, the recognition and encouragement they deserve. I would encourage all our members to enter or nominate someone they think is suitable for an award this year.”

A career in farming or the wider rural economy has – through the development of programmes such as this – provided opportunities for formal and informal upskilling for those working in the industry.

Continuous personal and professional development for young people is now an option through Macra na Feirme’s Skillnet offering and the organisation aims to recognise those who are leading the way in building sustainable enterprises in our communities.
