The Irish Farmers Journal team is looking forward to talking with farmers and attendees of BEEF2026, which takes place at Teagasc, Grange, Co Meath, on Wednesday 1 July. The open day is the event of the year for beef farmers, with a vast array of technical information and demonstrations to see during the day.

Irish beef farmers are very fortunate to have such a facility available to us, where research focused on beef production takes centre stage. When farmers from other countries visit, they are often envious of what farmers have available to them in this country in terms of research and advice.

It’s important that farmers and the industry engage with Teagasc and its researchers, and BEEF2026 is a great chance to talk to the people who are doing the research and asking the questions that will hopefully provide farmers and the industry with answers for some of the many challenges that lie ahead.

But with challenges come opportunities, and it’s important that Irish farmers are well positioned to take advantage of these.

Technology adoption on beef farms to boost output and reduce costs will be key to the survival of our industry, and to the survival of the Irish family suckler or beef farm.

The full suite of technologies available to beef and suckler farmers will be available on the day for all to see.

The Irish Farmers Journal is delighted to participate in a new section of the open day called the “Beef Pulse” talks. As part of this, we will be recording a live episode of our podcast, Farm Tech Talks, from the event. The topic we will be discussing is suckler beef and we’ll have some of our own team, Teagasc and farmers involved in that discussion.

Suckler farmers enjoyed record prices in 2025, but have had to deal with reduced prices in 2026, and we’ll touch off that as part of the discussion on the day. If you would like to take part, there will be an opportunity to ask questions during the live podcast.

We’ll also have our Irish Farmers Journal stand at the event, where you can chat to the livestock team about issues in the beef sector.

We will be doing a special BEEF2026 subscription offer for anyone who wishes to sign up to any of our digital subscriptions or home delivery option. It’s a great chance for our team to meet and greet our readers, so please drop in if you are attending the open day. We will be located beside the farmyard area, at the end of the open day route.
