Farmec Ireland, one of Ireland’s independent machinery importers, based at Drumree, Co Meath, will have a host of new machines for Ploughing 2014, including hedgecutters, power harrows and loader features.
Farmec will launch the new red range of Twose hedgecutters to the Irish market. All Twose hedgecutters are three-point linkage mounted.
Drive line
The machine’s drive line is contained within the width of the skid, which is claimed to give a cleaner cut and better manoeuvrability. The flail head has a twin pulley belt drive. All hydraulic hoses are contained inside the boom arms to protect the motor and pipes from damage.
The Twose range of hedgecutters has genuine reach measurements from 4.8m (15ft 9in) to 6.25m (20ft 6in) depending on model. These hedgecutters can be fitted with a low-pressure, oil-over-oil control system, to give smooth and supple action along with good machine control and lower operator fatigue. These controls are claimed to be reliable and maintenance-free.
Heavy duty
The heavy-duty flail head has a double-skinned construction. Wear skids and front and rear stone guards come as standard. Also the hedgecutters have slimline tank design, cast-iron pumps and motor and a wide model range to suit both the farmer and contractor.
Farmec Ireland’s 0% finance scheme (stand number 282, Row 20, Block 2) has helped Twose sales growth in the Irish market.
MX Multimass weight
Farmec is the Irish importer for MX loaders and will launch the French company’s Multimass tractor front weight concept to the market at the Ploughing.
The Multimass is designed to be adaptable, with a progressive ballasting system. The system consists of four individual modular units, 600kg, 900kg, 1,200kg and 1,500kg. One or two additional 400kg weights can be added, which results in 12 possible configurations from 600kg to 2300kg. A vertical interlocking system claims to make hitching and removal of the weights quick and easy. A parking support is standard for additional weights.
The Multimass weights are equipped with a three-point automatic hitching system as standard. The choice of system depends on the work to be carried out – three-point hitching for long tasks, automatic hitching for frequent changes of implement. A red sight rod attached to the top of the weight allows its size to be estimated for road use.
The Multimass weight is compatible with category 2, 3 and 4 front and back linkages. The Multimass models have been developed to withstand impact and ensure maximum durability. They include a towing clevis with a spindle measuring 30mm in diameter.
The Multimass weights are equipped with ingenious storage with a capacity of 168 litres. This can be attached to the primary weight and the additional weight. The chainsaw holders, shafts for carrying tools with handles (spade, brush, and fork) and drum holder (hose, cable, chain) allow the tractor cab to be kept clean.
New Sulky power harrow range on display
Farmec will be showing the Sulky Cultiline HR Series 1000 range of power harrows for the first time in Ireland. With a range of models suitable for tractors up to 260hp, these power harrows come with a reinforced three-point linkage for mounting of high hopper capacity seed drills.
With the use of side anti-ridging deflectors, the machine is claimed to have a working forward speed of more than 10 km/h. This power harrow has a centrally adjustable packer roller, scrapers with carbide coating and 60mm diameter bearings. This is said to enable the packer roller to be cleaned by pivoting the scraper bar. Sulky says the Series 1000 incorporates components for a long service life, high resale value and minimum maintenance. It is fitted with 45mm diameter gears and twin 65mm tapered roller bearings.
The 8mm thick gear trough is double-folded at the bottom. The quick-fit 8mm tine holders are hardened and the new tines are said to reduce drag and slightly twisted so they crumble the soil. The 3m Series 1000 models have four rotors per metre.
Each of the Sulky Cultiline HR Series 1000 power harrows is backed by Sulky’s three-year guarantee on the gearbox and gear trough.
Forterra HD leads display
Zetor importers McHale Plant Sales will be showing the new Zetor Forterra HD tractor at this year’s Ploughing. The new Forterra HD, which will be available in 130hp, 140hp and a range-topping 150hp version, will be displayed alongside its existing Forterra HSX, Proxima and Major tractors.
Also displayed on the McHale Plant Sales stand (Block 1, row 20, stand 278) will be a Komatsu WA320PZ-7 wheel loader. This loader was born out of the construction sector which is increasingly finding favour among agricultural contractors and large farm operators. There will be two models from the Italian Merlo telehandler range.
Gregoire-Besson ploughs back with IAM
IAM Agricultural Machinery (Stand 496, Row 6), based in Kilkenny, will return to the Ploughing this year with the French-manufactured range of Gregoire-Besson ploughs.
In 2011, Gregoire-Besson took over the German Rabe plough company, a brand which IAM has represented in Ireland since 1989. Gregoire-Besson claims to have produced the first commercial reversible plough in 1901.
The full range of Gregoire-Besson tillage equipment includes ploughs, disc harrows, offset and tandem, tined cultivators, deep-tined subsoilers and shallow-tined cultivators.
Range
The current plough range runs through mounted -2-7 furrows, in furrow and on land, rated for tractors from 80hp to 380hp.
Semi-mounted, single-wheel, 4-9 furrows, in-furrow and on-land are rated for tractors from 80 to 400hp pulling power and twin-wheel, 6-16 furrows, in-furrow and on-land ploughs are designed for tractors from 80 to 600hp.
As well as the plough range, Gregoire Besson also produces the Combimix which is a fully mounted combination tillage cultivator. It is a 3m wide machine with leading soil loosening tines, followed by two rows of independent discs and rear packers which achieve consolidation.
Five front tines cultivate the soil below the plough pan level. The tines are available with different styles to suit all soil types.
A double row of hydraulically controlled discs chop, cultivate and mix trash residue to create a level tilth. A rear packer then consolidates the ground, leaving a level seedbed.
The working depth is controlled by the discs and packer, which in turn control the depth of the tines. This combination tillage machine is suitable for tractors from 150hp and is designed for small to medium farms.
