Short-gestation beef bulls
Marketing manager Laurence Feeney said: “Interest has grown enormously in shorter-gestation beef sires for both the dairy and suckler herds. Munster and Progressive have a fantastic range of short-gestation bulls and some new names for 2019 will be available to get cows calving earlier, without difficulty and provide a quality calf.” For international visitors, Ireland Genetics, the export division of NCBC, will be represented by Amanda Bogan, international sales officer.

Laurence Feeney added: “From a dairy perspective, there will be many new bulls available that will look a lot different than before. The talk among Munster and Progressive customers are the sires that top the EBI list. Also for next year there will be a really strong Jersey team that will feature the best sires available worldwide. The Jersey bull Triplestar is ranked high in New Zealand and is creating a huge level of demand from all over the world.
“The top Danish Jersey sires are also available from Progressive and Munster, as Denmark has the largest European Jersey program.”
New milk recording reports and HerdApp
Milk recording is all about making your herd more profitable. Munster AI has launched its new milk recording reports and feedback is that farmers have taken to it very positively. These new reports highlight the SCC problems and the unprofitable cows in the herd. All milk recording herds can now access their data on their phone for free on HerdApp. Agrinet will be present on the stand to get people set up with this new tool. Calling to their stand at the Ploughing has to be a must for anyone with an interest in using AI in the coming year.
