The exhibitors have a huge role to play in generating the buzz and excitement, with over 1,000 staff from all the companies involved. We chat to a few of them to hear their thoughts on the FTMTA Grass & Muck Event
Paraic McCarthy, Kverneland
Grass & Muck has always been good to us. It gives the end user the chance to see our machines perform. For Kverneland, the onus is on having the machines operating to their best, which puts pressure on the drivers. A demonstrator like John Cologan with 40 years of experience knows how to make the machines sing on days like this. Overall, the site is excellent – parking and traffic is really well controlled. The beauty of the site is that it is easily navigated and not time-consuming to get around on foot. We welcome everybody to our stand and maybe even the winner of the Kverneland 805 rake will be there.
Jim Barron, Future Grass Technology
From speaking to farmers all day at the show in 2014, we can see a much greater knowledge of zero grazing methods in Ireland and a growing number of farmers looking at zero grazing as their best option for expansion. The Grass & Muck show is a great concept, as it allows farmers to see many different machines working in the one place, rather than sitting in one place on a stand. The show was extremely well organised by the FTMTA and well attended.
Paul Scrivener, Farmhand
Farmhand Ltd will be attending the Grass & Muck event for the fourth time and will be bringing the largest display of Krone grass machinery yet. It is certainly a lot of effort to transport and co-ordinate over 20 machine units and 10 tractors, but we feel that the effort is certainly justified. The fact that we run a full-time, fully independent demonstration crew year-round shows the belief we have in getting our machines out working for customers on demos; it is truly the best way to show the merits of a machine.
We have found the show access and grounds to have worked well in the past and we look forward to meeting customers and showing off what our machines can do.
Stephanie Shine, Samco Agricultural Manufacturing Ltd.
Samco has been a member of the FTMTA for many years and always considers Grass & Muck a must in our busy show calendar. We love being a part of such an atmosphere with people old and young of the same industry. The application is simple and stress-free and if you need a question answered, the FTMTA team is always so efficient. Grass & Muck is a great way to catch up with existing customers and reach out for potential new customers. The location is always great, with a good road network and plenty of space to hold such a well-organised outdoor event. The option to be able to hold a live demonstration of machinery is a fantastic amenity to avail of. I would definitely recommend exhibiting at Grass & Muck to other agricultural companies.
Norman Nicholl, NC Engineering
We have always found that this show is very good for us at NC. Since the start in 2010, the customer that is coming to this show is what we want. Our target market is here and this is helped by the fact it is on a weekday and not the weekend, like many other shows. This year, we will have the 100hp NC 225 on the clamp, so visitors will get a chance to see what it can do. I must also mention the staff at Gurteen College, they are very helpful. In summary, I’m not sure what they can improve on to make this show better – I think it suits both the trade and the farmer.
