Murtagh Bros has sold a number of properties in online auctions recently. The firm sold a 19ac holding at Rochfortbridge, Co Westmeath. It went on the market at €185,000 and was knocked down at €300,000.

They also sold 41ac with a residence at Brierfield, Moylough, Co Galway. The property was offered in lots but there was strong interest in the entire with a number of committed bidders involved. Auctioneer Dillon Murtagh declared the holding on the market at €670,000. The hammer fell at €772,000.

Raymond Potterton achieved €1.12m at auction for the 140ac farm at Mace, Rathowen, Co Westmeath. The farm has frontage on to three public roads. It was offered in lots but went on to sell in the entire.

Coonan Property auctioned two parcels of lands on the same day. The first was a 17ac field at Cornamucklagh, Broadford, Co Kildare, which sold at €195,000. Bidding opened at €150,000 and was taken by three bidders to €190,000. The property was soon afterwards knocked down at €195,000. The buyer was an adjoining landowner.

The second holding was 18ac at Kilbrook, Enfield, Co Kildare. Biding opened at €140,000 and went in increments of €10,000 to €200,000. At this stage the vendors were consulted and after a further bid of €10,000 the property went on the market. After two further bids the hammer fell at €220,000 or €12,200/ac.

“These successful sales demonstrate strong demand for good quality,well-located farms,” said auctioneer Philip Byrne of Coonan Property.

REA Stokes & Quirke sold 43ac of land at Kill Ballygorman, Ardfinnan, Co Tipperary at auction for €615,000 or €14,300/ac. The buyer is a tillage farmer.

The firm also sold c27ac at Burgessland, Clonmel for €420,000. “This was in excess of €15,000/ac,” auctioneer John Stokes said.

“It was bought by two local dairy farmers who plan on splitting the lands down the middle.”

Savills achieved the notable price of €4.1m for the 152ac Primrose Park Farm, Greenogue, Kilsallaghan, Co Meath. The firm says it held 30 viewings of the property. The interest was from farmers looking to expand and investors looking to acquire a single, large block of prime farmland.

Bidding opened at €3m and within a few seconds rose in increments of €100,000 to €3.8m. The property was declared on the market and after three further bids the hammer dropped at €4.1m. The buyer is a local family with equestrian interests.

Hennessy Auctioneers achieved the strong price of €1.34m for the 120ac Avenue Farm at Camross. The buyer is understood to be a local family with business and farming interests.

Sherry Fitzgerald P Burke sold two parcels of land from a holding at Caltraghmore, Newtowncashel, Co Longford, at auction. One lot of 10.55ac sold for €90,000. A second parcel of 8.25ac sold for €97,000.
