The Irish Limousin cattle society held the first of their spring sales in Gort last Friday night. The sale attracted an entry of just over 20 bulls of which 69% met trade. Situated in the heart of suckler country the sale attracted a full attendance of spectators, however these onlookers had a clear budget in mind with bulls selling from €2,000 to €3,050.

Securing the top price of €3,050 was the second prize winner Brackhoney Milan. This stylish October 2017 born bull was brought out by William Scanlon, Westport, Co. Mayo. Sired by Castleview Gringo, he goes back to an Ardea Dan bred daughter by the name of Fermoyle Hope 2.

Not far behind, Donal McKeon secured a bid of €3,000 for his top bull Milan Maldini. This 16-month old bull is a son the 2018 sire of the year Ampertaine Foreman while the dam is a daughter of the renowned Ronick Hawk.

Maurice Carrol was given the role of master judge on the night and he found his overall champion in the form of Clydagh Mark. Bred by Mark Philbin, Castlebar this five-star bull is sired by Cloughhead Lord with the dam’s pedigree also including the previously mentioned Ronick Hawk and Lino. The night's champion was knocked down by auctioneer Denis Barrett at a price of €2,500.
