Established in 2007 by the Irish and British Limousin Cattle Societies, the competition was set up to help, promote and encourage young breeders across Britain and Ireland to get involved in livestock and, in particular, the showing and presenting of cattle.

The event itself features five teams – one each from Wales, Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and the Republic – and participants are asked to compete in three disciples, namely stock judging, reasoning and showing.

Welcome

Irish Limousin Society secretary Paul Sykes, along with Paddy Ryan, secretary, Cappamore Show, welcomed each of the competitors and their travelling supporters before officially getting the competition under way.

Participants were asked to judge a group of four heifers and four bulls.

Following this, they individually went before a panel of three judges to explain their placings of these animals.

Each competitor then presented a nominated animal in the showring and was subsequently judged on their showmanship skills.

The results were as follows:

Senior individual: 1. Stephanie Dick, Scotland; 2. Thomas Corbett, Wales; 3. Thomas Illingworth, Scotland.

Junior individual (under 16): 1. Orla Curtin*, Wales; 2. Adam McGoockin, Northern Ireland; 3. Rachel Moloney, Ireland.

Team event: 1. Scotland (Stephanie Dick, Thomas Illingworth and Amy Lindsay); 2. Wales (Thomas Corbett, Lowri Davies and Orla Curtin); 3. (Joint third) England (Richard Priestley, Sarah Priestley and Vicky Illingworth) and Northern Ireland (Arthur Callaghan, Marcus Berry and Adam McGoockin). 5.Ireland (Declan McHugh, Cathal O’Meara, Sean Moroney and Rachel Moloney).
