The latest FTMTA registration figures show that new telescopic loader registrations for the year to date have increased by 19% to 600 units.

If we compare this with the same eight-month period of 2024, a total of 504 units were registered.

The two leading brands, Manitou and JCB, accounted for 74% of the total market. Telescopic loaders in August 2025 reported a 107% increase on the same month in 2024, recording 56 units.

There were 40 imported used telescopic loaders registered in August 2025 up from 39 in August 2024.

Wheel loaders

The Irish wheel loader market recorded an increased number of new registrations in August 2025 at 13 units, compared with August 2024 at six units, which was a market increase of 54%.

The loader market to date has recorded a total of 151 machine sales, which is up over 14% on the 132 machines registered in the same period in 2024.

Meanwhile, there were seven imported used wheeled loaders registered in August 2025, compared with four in August 2024.

Backhoe loaders and UTVs

The Irish backhoe loader market increased in August 2025, compared with four new machines registered in August 2024.

There were two used backhoe loaders registered in August 2025 in Ireland.

For the period from January to August 2025, there were 40 new backhoe loaders registered in Ireland compared with 46 in the first eight months of 2024.

There were 22 new utility terrain vehicle (UTVs) registered in Ireland in August 2025, compared with 27 in August 2024.

For the year to date, there were 186 new UTVs registered in Ireland compared with 241 for the first eight months of 2024, a 23% year-to-date decline.

There were three used imported UTVs registered for the first time in August 2025.

For the first eight months of 2025 there were 23 used imports.
