JCB previewed its IntelliAssist package of boom automation and attachment functions, designed to simplify repetitive boom movements.
New automated functions include:
Boom height and reach limits.Auto boom extension/retraction.Attachment angle memory.Return to high (load) and low (dig) positions. These features will be available on all JCB Loadall Series III telescopic handlers, including the new 546-70 and 555-70 and existing 532-60, 538-60, 532-70, 538-70, 542-70, 536-95, 542-100 and 560-80 models.
Lift and reach limits
For repeat operations like stacking bales or loading muck, limiting boom movements has the potential to save time and prevents hitting roofs etc. The forward reach limiter is especially useful when loading bale trailers or pallets. A string line potentiometer measures boom extension. Limits are set by positioning the boom and pressing/holding the relevant IntelliAssist button.

The string potentiometer on the boom is used to measure its distance for lift and reach limits.
‘Return to’ functions
For repetitive tasks, return to dig, load, and carriage angle position functions save the operator from multi-tasking when resetting boom and attachment positions. These are set by pressing and holding the relevant button and activated by a sharp throw of the servo joystick.
Simultaneous lift/lower and telescope
Operators can now lift and extend or lower and retract the boom simultaneously with one control input. This could be suited for repetitive high-reach jobs such as stacking bales.
Hydraulic flow control
Two new features include hydraulic speed adjustment, which reduces oil flow to boom lift/lower and attachment dump/crowd cylinders, while maintaining full flow to boom nose auxiliaries. This softens control response without limiting supply to hydraulic motors like bale shredders or auger buckets. The inverse front auxiliary function reverses the flow to and from the third service, which saves the operator from having to swap hose connections if they are the wrong way around.
Load weighing
The new IntelliWeigh system is fully integrated with IntelliAssist and the Loadall’s information display to help operators monitor inputs accurately. The system can be integrated with JCB LiveLink telematics for data recording. The weigh system works of hydraulic oil pressure and boom position to calculate load weights.
Up to five calibration (implement) settings can be named and stored in the digital control unit, with the weight of each load and the number of loads per session recorded to provide an accumulated tonnage. Operators can set a count-down target weight to avoid wastage or overloading. Through the use JCB’s LiveLink telematics, users can view loading session reports online and export them to an Excel spreadsheet for analysis/record keeping. The IntelliAssist and IntelliWeigh systems are only available as a factory fitted option.
The new package is set to be publicly unveiled at Agritechnica along with the new Loadalls and Fastrac models.

All IntelliAssist parameters are set using the dedicated button pad.
