Irish debut for Valtra’s 425hp S416
Making its Irish debut on the Clarke Machinery stand was the Valtra S416, the largest model within the series and Valtra’s largest production tractor to date.
The sixth-generation model marks a move away from its heavily Massey Ferguson-based predecessor which had been built at the Massey factory in Beauvais, France. Now, designed and built in Finland, the current S series better fits into its current tractor portfolio, sharing many similarities such as the cab.
The six-model series spans from 280hp to 425hp, with power sourced from an AGCO Power 8.4l six-cylinder engine which is married to the ML260 CVT transmission. Front and rear linkage capacities are 5,000kg and 12,000kg. Hydraulic flow rates of up to 400l/min is possible by means of a dual load sensing pump setup.
Carroll Engineering 24t dumper

The high-specification dump trailer features a full 6mm Hardox floor and sides.
Carroll Engineering, based outside Bailieborough, Co Cavan showcased a taster of its vast range of machines and implements, including log splitters, bale splitters, land leveller and transport boxes. However, one product attracting plenty of attention was its 24t tandem axle dump trailer. Not afraid to take on the challenge of manufacturing bespoke solutions, beyond its day-to-day range, the high-specification trailer was built with strength, stability and longevity in mind.
The trailer features a 6mm floor and side walls formed out of Hardox steel, hydraulic locking up and over tailboard, greedy boards and a rear bumper bar. The body is sat on a heavy-duty twin rail chassis with a fully folded and suspended drawbar which is fitted with a bolt on spoon hitch.
In terms of running gear, the trailer features a high-speed commercial axle kit supplied by Distag with hydraulic and air brakes and is shod on 650/50 R22.5 tyres. Other features include galvanised mud guards, a folding front access ladder and exterior grease nipples which have been piped back to the main lubrication points to simplify maintenance.

The Fastrac 6300 produces a maximum 335hp.
JCB dealer, Armstrong Machinery displayed the 6300 model from its new Fastrac 6000 series.
The long-awaited two-model series comes after five years of R&D and positions itself between the existing 4000 and 8000 series. Aside from retaining the equal wheel, four-wheel steering format and self-levelling suspension, everything else has changed.
Moving away from an AGCO Power engine and Fendt CVT transmission, the 6000 is fitted with a 6.7l FPT engine and stepless ZF Eccom gearbox with a maximum speed of 66km/h.
Both the 6260 (284hp) and 6300 (335hp) are mechanically identical and offer the same front and rear lift capacities at 5,000kg and 11,000kg. A 200l/min pump is offered as standard which can be optioned in twin pump configuration doubling its output.
A number of other updates have been introduced below the surface including a cast steel front end, heavier-duty Dana axles, new braking system, a heavier-duty back end, and a new cab roof as well as more technologically advanced architecture within the cab for telematics and precision agriculture.

Lasco appoints new Irish distributor

Lasco has appointed JMS Agri & Forestry Machinery as its distributor for Ireland.
Austrian manufacturer Lasco has appointed JMS Agri & Forestry Machinery as its distributor for the island of Ireland. Lasco builds grapples, cranes, attachments, drying and heating systems, but JMS intends on focusing on grapples, which it says complements its Farmi Forest woodchipper offering.
Lasco’s log grapples feature a box-type construction with the manufacturer saying it oversizes on stressed parts such as cylinders, deflection rods and plain bearings, as well as the use of wear-resistant and high-strength fine-grained steel. Offering nine models from 1,000mm up to 2,000mm openings, the firm says it has optimised them specifically for attachment to excavators. It says the body of the grapple has a reinforced head plate which means that both flange rotators and double-flange rotators can be mounted. Its log grapples have a universal hole pattern that fits the rotator mount for all flange rotators. A corresponding adapter is available for pin rotators. JMS Agri & Forestry Machinery is a Cavan-based agricultural contracting and tree surgery business.
Mastek launches drop-out reel

The new Mastek drop-out front and rear reels are available with the option of double hydraulic motors.
Well-known Cavan-based slurry equipment manufacturer Mastek recently launched its new drop-out front and rear reels.
