Boyne Valley Trails Walking Weekend

Under way now and taking place until Monday 6 June, Drogheda in Co Louth is hosting a walking festival for the bank holiday weekend.

There will be walks suitable for all abilities, which will incorporate everything from Irish mythology to whiskey.

There will be a walk on the history of brewing in the town, a walk along the banks of the Boyne on new archaeological discoveries in the area, an urban art walk, a walk on Drogheda and the Civil War and a tour through Beaulieu Estate & Gardens. Full details here.

Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival

For fans of legendary blues-rock artist Rory Gallagher, Ballyshannon in Co Donegal is the place to be this weekend.

The home place of the great guitarist will see 30 acts on 15 stages over four days. The 18th annual festival will run until Sunday 5 June.

Blues and rock artists performing across the weekend include Walter Trout, Eric Gales, Gerry McAvoy's Band of Friends, Whitesnake guitarist Bernie Marsden, Belfast female rock band Dea Matrona and more.

Cork Harbour Festival

Running until 13 June, the Cork Harbour Festival celebrates Cork's maritime heritage as the second-largest natural harbour in the world.

It will see 50 events taking place in 15 locations across Cork City and its harbour.

Ocean to City – An Rás Mór, Ireland’s premier long-distance rowing race, takes place on Saturday 4 June.

With something for every age and activity level, the varied programme includes on-the-water activities, history, music, art, workshops, talks and walking tours, the environment and family events.

Ireland BikeFest Killarney

For motorbike enthusiasts, Killarney, Co Kerry, is the place to be this weekend. The 14th annual BikeFest is running until Monday 6 June.

Billed as having cruising, craic and plenty of chrome, the festival is free, attracting thousands of all-brand motorcycle enthusiasts from around the world.

From bikers to families, it has something for all. Festival highlights include the Bike Village, Custom Bike Show, parade through Killarney town and the Harley-Davidson Experiential Zone.
