Back by popular demand, Macra’s National Training Day makes its highly anticipated return on Saturday 27 September, at the Killeshin Hotel in Portlaoise. This event is a great chance to grow, learn, and connect with members.

The afternoon will feature training for all officer roles at both club and county levels. From new committee recruits, to experienced officers looking to refresh their skills, everyone will find it valuable. And once the learning wraps up, attendees can unwind over a two-course meal, followed by music and dancing into the night with a live DJ performing on the night.

We will also host the 2025 Macra National Leadership Awards final on this day. These prestigious awards celebrate exceptional leadership within the organisation, recognising those who have made a real impact over the year.

Finalists will undertake a problem-solving session before meeting with judges for a one-on-one interview. Winners will be revealed during the evening banquet, and the awards, along with the president’s medals, will be presented.

Volunteer of the Year Award

Macra will shine a well-deserved spotlight on unsung heroes at the Volunteer of the Year Awards. This year, the Volunteer of the Year Award will once again be celebrated following the National Training Day on 27 September. These awards honour outstanding volunteer contributions across all three regions, highlighting the heart and soul of Macra – its dedicated members.

2025 Club of the Year and Best New Member competitions – sponsored by NBI

This year’s Club of the Year competition returns with a new twist: the introduction of a dedicated Best Emerging Club category. This gives newer or re-established clubs a platform to showcase their progress and innovation. Clubs will be judged on planning, community involvement, member participation, and strategic development, from 1 August 2024, to 31 July 2025.

Also part of the Club of the Year competition is the much loved Best New Member Award, spotlighting rising stars from each region – Leinster, Munster, and the north west. To qualify, members must have joined between 1 March 2024, and 28 February 2025, and made a significant contribution in their first year.

Macra would like to sincerely thank National Broadband Ireland for its continued support of these competitions.

The autumn season is shaping up to be an exciting one.
