AGCO is a global company with numerous brands offered all around the world. The same piece of machinery could potentially be sold under a number of guises globally or in some cases just one. In AGCO’s case, its recent acquisition of the Challenger range of tractors is now sold as the Fendt MT series.

Fendt E100 Vario – clean and quiet

This battery-powered tractor is a world first. The Fendt E100 Vario is an all-electric compact tractor with 50kW power output, which can operate for up to five hours under actual operating conditions. The energy source is a 650V high capacity lithium ion battery with a capacity of around 100kW/h. The battery pack can also serve as intermediate storage for farm-generated power.

The battery will charge in easy charging mode up to 100% in five hours or in supercharging mode it will charge up to 80% in 40 minutes.

Fendt are marketing this machine as extremely quiet, emissions-free, low maintenance and energy efficient. Its proposed use is in greenhouses, vine yards and for local authority urban use due to being so quiet.

Fendt MT Vario

The Fendt 900 and 1100 Vario MT tractors have entered the tracked tractor market sector for the first time at Agritechnica 2017. Previewed to the press earlier this year, this was the first time the rebranded products were unveiled to the public.

Power is in the range of 380–646hp in the upper performance range. The new Fendt 900 Vario MT tracked tractors are available in three output levels starting at the 938 Vario MT with 380hp, 940 Vario MT with 405hp and 943 Vario MT with 431hp.

Fendt offer the 1100 vario MT tractors in four performance classes, ranging from the 1149 MT with 492hp right up to the 1165 MT with 646hp.

The Fendt 1100 MT is identical to the big current Challenger tracked tractors, which apply force to the ground effectively. These machines are less than 3m wide. They will be on sale from Agritechnica onwards.

Tigo forage wagons and round balers

This week Fendt have launched their fixed chamber and variable round balers, both of which come in a number of versions. These balers are equipped with a hydroflex control system.

This system is designed to clear blockages within the feed channel. Operators have the option of choosing between 13, 17 or 25 knives and can adjust the chopping length as required.

The pick-up reels have a 2.4m cam track-free design. The variable-chamber baler has the capability of producing bales from 0.7m right up to 1.8m while the fixed-chamber baler is designed to produce bales of 1.25m.

The Tigo XR and Tigo PR are also a new addition to the Fendt forage harvesting equipment range. These forage wagons are essentially Lely rebadged machines.

The XR has a pick-up width of 2m while the PR has a slightly narrower pick-up of 1.9m. The rotor has an 800mm diameter with seven spiral rows of teeth made of wear resistant Hardox steel with large spherical bearings both sides.

Syn Trac global debut – where tractor meets truck

This Austrian-built machine is an extremely exciting and highly anticipated concept. It is designed to combine the key features of both a truck and a tractor to define a new class of vehicle. Hydraulics, pneumatics, electrics, PTO and software are all automatically coupled in less than a minute using a specially developed docking system.

This is powered by a 416hp Cat engine which meets the EU Tier 4 final emissions standard.

Using front, crab and four wheel steering its turning radius of 4.5m is achieved with a 4.7m vehicle length. This vehicle is available in 60km/h or 80km/h variants with hydro-pneumatic suspension. This machine will be launched in 2019.

AGCO IDEAL combine

The highly anticipated IDEAL from Massey Ferguson was launched this week at the Agritechnica Show in Hannover. IDEAL from AGCO can be branded as either Massey Ferguson or Fendt and is a completely new high performance combine harvester range.

This range is broken up into three machines, ranging in horsepower from 451hp from an AGCO engine right up to a massive 647hp from a Mann engine.

This combine is the only high-capacity combine that does not exceed the 3.3m transport width while still using ground-friendly running gear. This is achieved by limiting the threshing width to 1.4m.

Grain tank size in litres ranges from 12,500 litres in the IDEAL 7 up to 17,500 litres in the IDEAL 9. This range of combines is fitted with a brand new quiet and comfortable vision cab – which has panoramic visibility.

This machine comes with the option of the TrakRide suspended track which gives a lighter footprint. The 4.84m ‘Dual Helix’ rotors which are fitted to the IDEAL 8 and IDEAL 9 machines provide for the largest threshing area of all combines in the industry.

This IDEAL combine is one of the first combines in years to have been developed from scratch and features special technology.

Kongskilde launch new slatted plough

Kongskilde Agriculture has announced the introduction of a completely new slatted-plough body this week at Agrictechnica. Developed especially for difficult soil conditions and larger tractors, the XSD slatted-body follows on from the XLD conventional plough which was launched at Agritechnica in 2015.

The new XSD slatted-body plough is designed for ploughing soil with a high sticky organic content or difficult clay soil. The slatted design ensures the soil can escape the mouldboard for maximum versatility and performance.

XSD is a turning plough body of low-draft requirement and designed for tractor tyres up to 710mm. Due to a patented helical design, it has very good turning of the furrows to cover all crop residues. It ploughs in depths of 12-30cm with a working width of 35-55cm.

The new body comes with well-known features like broken furrow bottom to lower fuel consumption and avoiding pans.

The new XSD slatted body can be put onto any Kongskilde plough. Ploughs equipped with XSD slatted-bodies will be available on the market from early 2018.

New Holland LM telehandler range

New Holland has developed a complete telehandler offering to satisfy customers’ material handling requirements.

The entire range offers stable, powerful lifting performance with reliable power plants. Lift heights range from 5.7m right up to 9.1m with a maximum lift capacity of 4,200kg. The heavy duty LM range is available in an optional, deluxe elite configuration.

In addition, you can choose between traditional single or dual speed hydrostatic transmissions or an advanced power shuttle powershift transmission for same lever direction and gear control.

On Elite models, automatic gear shifting is also available at top transport speeds. A top transport speed of 40km/h is as standard. Panoramic glazing view provides a clear view to help ease of operation. An optional LED lighting package is available for enhanced visibility.

D Series wheel loader

New Holland W110 D, W130 D, W170 D and W190 D wheel loaders are designed to meet the needs of large-scale farmers, agricultural contractors, composting operators and biogas farmers where loading performance is critical.

New Holland are claiming that the latest D Series wheel loaders now deliver more, with an all-new, best-in-class cab for improved visibility and unrivalled levels of comfort. Both the W110 D and W130 D are offered with a 40kph four-speed powershift transmission with automatic or manual gear selection, while the W170 D model drives through a 45kp/h eco-shift five-speed powershift transmission.

As standard, W170 D wheel loaders are fitted with heavy-duty axles with an automatic, 100% locking front differential and a fully open differential in the rear axle. The front differential can also be manually activated by a foot switch.

Both the W110 D and W130 D are equipped with standard axles front and rear featuring limited slip differentials. The W110 D is fitted with a 144hp engine while the W130 D is fitted with a 174hp engine and the W170 D is fitted with a 234hp engine.

The range now features the new flagship W190 D model with a 234hp NEF engine which is Tier 4B compliance.

The complete range is available in Z-Bar and long reach configurations. Long reach models have a 4.5m hinge pin height at maximum reach. The range comes with a brand new cab featuring a new curved one piece front windscreen and armrest mounted joystick, with an LCD colour display.
