What I (don’t) know about Autism – 1 to 8 February: Go on a journey in the Abbey Theatre, Dublin, as a cast of autistic and non-autistic actors share sometimes comic, sometimes heart-breaking look at the world of autism. This play is inspired by the writer’s own experience with autism and it celebrates autistic identity, while also offering a deeper insight and understanding to non-autistic audiences. All performances will be relaxed, meaning a relaxed approach to noise during the show with audience members free to move about or leave as they need. Tickets range from €16 to €25. Crowman – 4-6 February: The Crowman is Dan Lonergan’s account of the hilarious characters that cross his path on a daily basis. It is also an account of a love story that never came to be. Jon Kenny will perform Crowman in the Everyman Theatre, Cork. Go on a journey with Jon from childhood to middle-age, from the hurling pitch to the pub and from one hilarious character to the other. Jason Byrne – 1 February: Jason Byrne will perform at the Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo, on 1 February. He’s had a difficult year, but he doesn’t want to talk about it. He’s wrecked but ready for a laugh. This show is a celebration of triumph over adversity. Everyone has their own stuff going on and they don’t need to listen to others complaining about their problems. Festival

Chinese New Year Festival Tralee – until 2 February: Marking the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar, celebrate the Chinese New Year in Tralee, Co Kerry. On the first weekend of February, Tralee will be transformed into a real China town with Chinese music and dress, workshops and events in businesses throughout the town. There will be a number of activities on offer throughout the festival including the traditional lions and dragon dances in the town centre, a 1,000 lights ceremony and a taste of Asia food market to name but a few. Film

A Beautiful Day in The Neighborhood – out 31 January: This film is based on the true story of the friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. Fred Rogers was not only the creator, showrunner and host of the TV series Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood but also a musician, puppeteer and a Presbyterian minister. Starring two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks and Emmy winner Matthew Rhys, the film is a story of how kindness overcomes cynicism. A jaded magazine investigative journalist is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers and he learns more then he bargained for with regard to empathy, kindness and decency. This film is rated PG.
