Death of
Peter Wolfe
It was with great sadness that the association and wider trade learned last week of the death of Peter Wolfe of Atkins Farm Machinery in Cork.
Peter passed away peacefully on 23 January in the presence of his beloved wife Angela and their six children Mark, Stuart, Eric, Joyce, Amy and Lorna. Peter, 71, was the fourth generation of the Wolfe family to manage the Atkins company where he worked for almost 50 years. Peter loved farming, the business of farming and old farm machinery. He is fondly remembered by Atkins’ staff, suppliers, customers and the wider farm machinery trade.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Peter’s family and friends.
May he rest in peace.
Kelly’s of Borris open days
FTMTA member firm Kellys of Borris, will hold their open days at Borris, Co Carlow on Friday 31 January, from 10am to 10pm and on Saturday 1 February, from 10am to 6pm. There will be a large selection of new and used machinery on display.
FTMTA Grass & Muck filling up
There has been heavy demand for exhibition space at the upcoming FTMTA Grass & Muck event and there is no further availability of grass working demonstration plots. There is some limited remaining availability of static stand space and in other working demonstration areas also.
Safety initiative
FTMTA member firm Industrial and Farm Machinery Ltd, together with Gates Hydraulics, have launched an awareness campaign to educate customers on the importance of safe hydraulics. Gates recommends using the STAMPED method to be sure you are getting the right hose assembly for the job:
Size: The inside diameter must be adequate to keep pressure loss; Temperature: Must be capable of withstanding minimum and maximum temperature; Application: How/where the hose is to be used;Material: Product selection must assure compatibility of hose tube, cover, couplings and O-rings with the fluid used, Pressure: Knowing the system pressure; Ends or Couplings: Identify the type of thread the system uses and select a compatible coupling; Delivery: Make sure hose is properly sized to efficiently transport fluid.
