There are advancements across the Bogballe fertilizer spreader range, with new control systems for more accurate spreading.
Bogballe is now giving a second coat of powder paint to all of its spreaders, and that will be noticeable in the slightly darker machine colours on the stands. This new paint finish claims to give a 100 micron thickness to the skin of the machines, to make them more durable to a range of abrasive fertilizers.
Atkins will also be showing models from the Bogballe range fitted to trailed buggies, to show the versatility of the machines. Some of the machines will also be fitted with the new Dromone Engineering quick attach system.
There are also improvements to the bigger, trailed Bredal fertilizer spreaders on the Atkins stand. All of the machines are powder painted for a better quality finish, following the opening of a new Bredal factory in Denmark.
For this year’s Ploughing, Atkins will be showing models from the K65 and K85 tillage specification machines. These are higher clearance machines that have a raised drawbar, with the pto shaft underneath. They are now available with section control systems based on the use of the TeeJet controller, which Atkins Farm Machinery has done some of the development work on. This allows for automatic control of the fertilizer application rates using GPS signals linked to new flow rate system. While the spreading disc speed remains the same, the rate of delivery of fertilizer to the spreading head will vary for short sections of the field. The machine’s bout width is controlled in eight sections.
The machines are available with a TeeJet controlled stop/start system, which ensures that there will be no excess fertilizer spread at the end of the headland bouts.

Atkins will also be showing an early production model of the Irish tested Ferri T500G headgecutter.
This is a parallel arm machine that’s designed for farmer use, rather than contractor applications.
This hedgecutter has a five metre reach and is fitted with a power slewing system and a hydraulic break away device. The head is 1.2 metres wide, powered by a 50hp pump and fitted with T section flails.
The new Ferri T500G is fitted with a polypropylene hydraulic oil tank that’s claimed to be lighter on the machine, while giving enhanced oil cooling. The tank is made from a 12mm thick polypropylene material, which Atkins claim is more durable and damage proof than the previous steel tanks.
