John Hayes, brand ambassador for Ole-mac Garden Machinery, is attempting to break a world record at this year’s Ploughing.
Using only chainsaws, he is carving a 75ft long piece of timber that was donated by Ballinamona Equestrian centre.
John is skilfully carving the 270-year history of the Viking Triangle in Waterford on to the viking sword in a tapestry-type design.
The sculpture will be completed over the three days at the Ploughing.
Final adjudication will take place on the last day with a representative from Guinness World Records.
This will no doubt be a crowd-puller and is sponsored by Waterford County Council. The sculpture will be erected in the city after completion.
