At Agritechnica back in 1995, Claas introduced the Lexion 480 combine harvester. Today, 30 years on and with more than 75,000 Lexions built, the manufacturer now offers four Lexion ranges: namely the 8000, 7000, 6000 and 5000 series.

Looking ahead to the upcoming Agritechnica show and the 2026 harvest, Claas is introducing a number of innovations to the combine range. The main changes are to the grain tank volume, engine power and cab.

The Lexion 7500, Lexion 8700 and Lexion 6800 are also getting new engines.

New Man engines

The Lexion 8000 series is made up of five models: the 8900 TT, 8800 TT, 8700 TT, 8600 TT and the 8500 / 8500 TT.

The new entry-level model in the 8000 series features the 12.4l Man D26 six-cylinder engine with 549hp as well as Dynamic Power and Dynamic Cooling – which is now also used in the Lexion 7500 / 7500 Terra Trac with a rated output of 466hp.

The 8700 and 8600 models are equipped with the 15.2l Man D38 with a rated output of 646hp and 598hp respectively.

In terms of separation, all models work with the APS Synflow Hybrid system with a feed channel width of 1,700mm, three drums, a 755mm threshing drum and two axial rotors that are 445mm in diameter and 4,200mm long.

The 8500/8500 Terra Trac is equipped with five rotor concaves with a maximum rotor speed of 1,000rpm, while the larger 8600 Terra Trac to 8900 Terra Trac models offer more separation performance with six-rotor concaves and a maximum rotor speed of 1,200rpm.

Larger grain tanks and cab

Claas is also increasing the grain tank sizes. The 8600 Terra Trac and 8500 / 8500 Terra Trac can now be supplied with either a 13,000- or 15,000-litre grain tank.

The 8700 Terra Trac is now available with the largest grain tank with a volume of either 15,000 or 18,000 litres and an emptying capacity of 180 l/s as standard, which Claas claims makes it the largest grain tank in its class.

Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via a 6.75in touch display, DAB+ radio receiver and Bluetooth will be available in the cab from next year.

The main changes are to the grain tank volume, engine power and cab.

A blow gun with a two-metre-long spiralled hose is also available for easy cleaning of the cab floor. The cab also sees new interior lighting and new storage compartments in the left-hand B pillar.

From the outside, all Lexion models for 2026 are recognisable by new LED beacons and new rear lamps with a modern look.
