This week, McHale launched its next generation of Pro Glide conditioner mowers: the front F3100-II and rear R3100-II. The new mowers are 15% lighter than their predecessors, feature a new X-Edge cutterbar and have new colouring and styling for a more modern look.
The new 3m X-Edge cutterbar has been designed and manufactured at the McHale factory in Mayo. McHale says the fully welded and oil-filled cutterbar provides a permanently lubricated environment for the hardened auxiliary gears. Featuring seven cutting discs, it also utilises McHale’s CoreCut safety mechanism to protect the driveline in the event of an impact.
It uses 114mm quick-fit blades. The mowers come as standard with new shaped, heavier steel conditioner tines. McHale says that pivot protection enables the tines to swing away when encountering a foreign object. It says the new generation mowers deliver a 50% higher power capability than standard belts to handle tough crop conditions.
Front mower
The F3100-II front mower features an integrated suspension system to allow the mowing unit to move independently of the tractor’s front linkage. It features a range of 500mm and 17° of left-to-right pivot to follow ground contours. McHale says the support frame provides over 600mm of ground clearance when raised, depending on tractor and tyre configuration.
The R3100-II rear mower is 15% lighter than the previous rear mower. The mower comes with a central pivot flotation system, allowing the mower to pivot freely and the cutterbar to respond with 17° of left-to-right movement. An integrated mechanical break-back system triggers upon striking an immovable object.
The ground pressure is adjusted via the headstock-mounted pressure gauge. A mechanical tap isolates the system once set, for consistent flotation. On the road the R3100-II folds vertically to a 116.5° angle, positioning its centre of gravity directly behind the tractor.
